Ban Huai Yang is a cosy little fishing village where you always meet happy and smiling Thais in a quiet and rural environment, 200 miles south of Bangkok and 250 miles north of Phuket. The fishing in the village starts after sunset, between six and seven, when the sea is filled by the light from the lanterns of the fishing boats. The village has no hotel and is genuine and relatively unexploited, apart from the small tourist villages that's scattered around the area. The never ending beach is free from hordes of tourists and apart from an occasional tourist outside one of the few resorts and the children that usually come down after school and dive from the pier, you can have the beach almost entirely for yourself

Huai Yang lies in the district Thap Sakae that also is the name of one of the nearest villages. The district has eleven small villages of which Huai Yang and Thap Sakae was two of the first. The province is called Prachuap Khiri Khan and consists of eight similar districts. Prachuap Khiri Khan is also the name of the province capital, that furthermore is the closest city and is situated about 15 miles north of Huai Yang.

In the village centre there are many shops and restaurants. There is also a pharmacy, post-office, travel agent, railway station, bus station, Internet café, laundry, several markets and much more. The village also has two Buddhist temples.
